一顿午餐 – All For a Lunch?

上午先去洗衣店把衣服送去加急清洗，价格跟清迈一样，每公斤 100 泰铢。回到酒店后有时间把行李和房间整理好。十一点多，叫了 Grab 去一家我在油管上看到，由一位非常有名的泰国厨师Pam强烈推荐的餐厅。这一路上也立刻想起曼谷交通有多糟糕，不到 8 公里的距离，竟然花了一个多小时才抵达。到了店门口发现客满，等到一点多才终于轮到我们。据Pam介绍，这家店主打的是桐艾府料理。我之前完全没听说过这个地方，打开谷歌地图一查，才发现桐艾府位于泰国最东部，靠近柬埔寨，是一个海产丰富的小府。我们点了那位厨师推荐的三道菜，其中最惊艳的是那道沙拉：沙拉酱用花生芝麻糖，青柠汁和泰式辣椒，酸、甜、辣平衡得刚刚好，非常好吃。

In the morning we dropped our laundry off for an express wash, with the same price as in Chiang Mai — 100 baht per kilo. After returning to the hotel, we had some time to tidy up our luggage and the room. Then, a little after eleven, we called a Grab to a restaurant I’d seen on YouTube, strongly recommended by a very famous Thai chef, “Pam”. The ride immediately reminded us how bad Bangkok traffic can be — less than 10 km (6 miles) took more than an hour.

When we arrived, the place was full, and we didn’t get a table until after one. According to Pam, the restaurant specializes in cuisine from Trat Province. We’d never heard of that place before, and only after checking Google Maps did I realize that Trat is in the far east of Thailand near Cambodia, a small province known for its seafood. We ordered the three dishes she recommended, and the standout was the salad: the dressing used peanut–sesame brittle, lime juice, and Thai chilies, with the sour, sweet, and spicy all perfectly balanced. It was really delicious.

左边是炸鱼配泰国那种炸的酥脆的小蒜；右边是桐艾府版的猪肉咖喱，和其他泰式咖喱的味道非常不同，没有椰子奶，酸酸甜甜的 – On the left is the fried fish topped with those crispy Thai-style fried garlic bits; on the right is the Trat-style pork curry, completely different from other Thai curries — no coconut milk, with a bright sweet-and-sour flavor.

吃完午饭后，回酒店的过程也颇为曲折。叫 Grab 不仅等待时间长，回程还得再经历一个多小时的堵车，于是我们决定先步行一段，然后又坐了一段空盛桑运河的快船。船到了终点站后，周围交通一片混乱，加上地铁施工封路，要叫 Grab 也不容易，我们只好又徒步了一会儿。好在曼谷现在的天气不算热，走在阴凉处反而挺舒爽的。最后在距离酒店大约十来分钟车程的地方，终于拦到一辆出租车，但司机不打表，直接开口 150 泰铢，其实跟 Grab 的价钱差不多。就这样，为了吃这一顿午饭，从离开我们的酒店到下午四点多才返回，真是让人怀疑这趟午饭到底值不值得。

After lunch, getting back to the hotel turned out to be just as complicated. Calling a Grab meant a long wait, and the return trip would have meant another hour of traffic, so we decided to walk part of the way and then went by ferry for a portion. When the boat reached the final stop, the traffic around us was a mess, and with the metro construction blocking roads, calling a Grab wasn’t easy either. We ended up walking for a bit. Fortunately, Bangkok’s weather wasn’t that hot today, and walking, when in the shade, was actually quite pleasant.

Finally, when we were out of the traffic mess, we managed to flag down a taxi. The driver didn’t turn on the meter and simply quoted 150 baht, which was basically the same as Grab anyway. And just like that, for the sake of this one lunch, we left the hotel before noon and didn’t get back until after four — it really made us wonder whether that meal was worth all that trouble.

在考山路（准确说是旁边那条我们习惯一起称作考山路的小街）上，我们终于找到了2019年旅行时几乎每天都会去的那家酒吧。它如今几乎被改得面目全非，我们费了好一番功夫才认出来，因为它依然保留着同样的名字。

On Khao San Road (or more accurately, the little side street next to it that we’ve always lumped together as Khao San Road), we finally found the bar we visited many times during our 2019 trip. It has changed so much it’s nearly unrecognizable.

晚饭我们随便选了家路边众多餐厅中的其中一家（Lotash Seed)，事实证明，吃饭还是得好好搜索，这顿成了这趟旅程里最糟糕的一餐！

We took a gamble for dinner tonight and just stopped at one of the many restaurants lining the street (Lotash Seed). It proved that you really need to watch and read reviews as the meal was one of the worst on the trip!

Due to the bad food, the Bear went on strike … No video today.
